Catholic England Returning

Our Journey of Faith

From AD 597 to 1534, England was a Catholic nation, deeply devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and ruled in succession by fifty Catholic monarchs. King Richard II dedicated the realm of England as “Mary’s Dowry” in 1381, but by 1538, ancient much-loved statues of Our Lady were being taken to London and publicly burned under King Henry VIII, while faithful Catholics were being beheaded at the Tower of London or hung, drawn and quartered at Tyburn. This pilgrimage will once again acclaim Our Blessed Lady as Queen of All Creation by carrying Her image from Her restored Shrine at Caversham to the Tower, honouring Her martyrs and praying for the return of the English nation to St Peter’s bosom.

Pilgrimages are becoming a more frequent sight on English streets

Ways you can support our pilgrimage

View our Options to Participate page for a full list of ways that you can participate in the Pilgrimage for Grace.

Pilgrimages are penitential. Some pilgrims go barefoot.

Our Penitential Pilgrimage

One hundred of us will walk fifty miles over three days, beginning each day with Solemn High Mass in the Old Rite and ending with traditional Compline, Adoration, and Benediction.

Walkers, organised into Chapters with chaplains in between, will tread quiet roads and the Thames Path between tented campsites. As many as four hundred more will join by boat, car, bicycle or other means on the final day, thus enabling pilgrims of all abilities to participate in the glorious closing Benediction and Te Deum.

This journey, uniting Catholic tradition, will bear witness to our utter trust in Christ, our total devotion to His Blessed Mother, the resilience of our Faith, and the beauty of our ancient liturgy.
